Arthistory.com contains information about contemporary vs. modern art and uses outlines of each to explain that there are more entries on the modern art side. This is because contemporary art is the era of the now and there are just not as many movement style artists out there to wow the world.

I think that the reason this is happening is synonomous to the movie industry. Every idea is out there and it is hard to be creative and come up with new ideas with a as long of a history as the movie industry. Art's history is even longer, making it even harder for an artist of today.

So what is a solution to this problem? One approach could be to stop teaching modern art so people do not know the ideas that have already been presented. But I feel like thats a little drastic. So what do we do? We should get better art programs in schools to boost kids creativity and allow new prospering artists to form and allow the art world of today to get even better.
